Woolies bringing 9 new products to their stores. Whether these are good or not, only time will tell #woolworthssa #nutrition #greenscreen | 2,3Ā k | ā | x | 50 | mar. 13 oct., 09:16 | 4 | 1 | So on top of the launch of Woolies new high protein range, they've also launched 9 new products in South Africa. Now I will say some of these look interesting, but whether that's a good or bad thing is still left to be seen. You've got mango and coconut overnight oats. You've got southern smoky barbecue beef ribs, uh, grapefruit juice, a new Biscoff dessert. I want to try that one out. Chicha and egg pot, Turkish egg pot smash burgers, cocoa and strawberry overnight oats. Wonder how that'll taste. And apple and cinnamon overnight oats. Whether this is a good strategy from Woolies, we'll only know in future. But let me know if you guys have tried any of these. | 0:35 | woolworthssanutritiongreenscreen | original sound TrueStrain Lab
Collagen helps support your skin, bones, tendons and other connective tissues. 𧬠Fish skin, chicken skin, gelatin and bone broth can provide collagen. Vitamin C rich foods like kiwi, oranges and peppers help your body make it but they donāt contain collagen themselves. One important distinction: eating collagen doesnāt guarantee better skin. #TrueStrain #NutritionFacts #Collagen #FoodScience | 1,6Ā k | ā | x | 99 | lun. 12 oct., 16:46 | 2 | 4 | Want more collagen in your diet? These are some natural food sources that contain collagen, with No.. 5 being something that most people don't know. First up is fish skin and bones. Your body breaks down this collagen into amino acids, which it uses to build and maintain tissue. Next up, we have chicken skin and connective tissue. And this is quite easy to get your hands on, especially if you're buying whole chicken. Third, we have gelatin. Now gelatin is made from collagen in animal tissues, so an easier way to get collagen if you want to mix it into anything. Fourth, we have bone broth. Now simmering bones and connective tissue can release the collagen into your broth, where some of it becomes gelatin. The amount will depend on how it's prepared. Then No. 5, the one most people don't know, is vitamin C rich foods. Now that's stuff like kiwis, oranges, peppers. Now they don't contain collagen, but it does help your body make more of it. Now remember, when eating collagen, it doesn't all go straight to your skin. Your body breaks it down and uses the building blocks to send it where it thinks it's needed. Save this for your next grocery run. And follow me for more nutrition facts without the hype. | 0:56 | truestrainnutritionfactscollagen | original sound TrueStrain Lab

Five high-protein yoghurts. One blind taste testš„ Which one tastes best? #TrueStrain #HighProtein #Yoghurt #SouthAfricanFitness | 1,9Ā k | ā | x | 72 | ven. 9 oct., 14:50 | 7 | 5 | It's not gonna lie this feels super weird that one really got me so I thought we try something different I'm gonna blind taste all of these yoghurts so you guys can see the yoghurts here but I'm gonna pop the blindfold on and then I'm gonna mix them around so I won't even know which one is which as you can see I've numbered them a to E but you guys will be able to see which one is which on screen it's not gonna lie this feels super weird I don't know why I decided to do it like this but okay we've committed to it alright, pretty sure I've mixed them up properly let's get to tasting so the three categories that I'm writing this on is taste, texture and whether I would actually want to eat this everyday let's start with this one quite nice not the thickest yoghurt but the texture is decent I will say that even though the texture is good there is some particles or some thicker pieces in this on to number two does have a thicker consistency so is quite nice but it is a lot more tangy than the first one this would be a great option to mix in with some fruit as the sweetness from the fruit will mellow this out let's taste this one this one is the thinnest of them all so far quite mellow in terms of taste and very very thin but no Off putting taste which is quite nice I'm gonna guess straight away this is most likely the homemade one wrong, wrong wrong wrong this one is quite thick. It's got just that right level of tanginess as well as thicker texture that I like in my Greek yoghurt no tanginess to it whatsoever only thing I don't like about it it doesn't have that thick Greek style or Greek yoghurt texture there is a hint of a bit of powderiness to this is fine because the taste is quite good let's see if I've got this right interesting the one that I thought was homemade was actually larswood that is surprising not gonna lie and the one that's actually the thinnest is the Woolly's high protein yoghurt I genuinely thought that would have a thicker texture and this is this is my homemade one that explains the tanginess because proper Greek yoghurt will have that tanginess hence why I say if it's something that you're not used to it's something you're not going to like but definitely the thickest of the bunch and yeah that's the test but I will say I'm quite surprised by the larswood that one really got me so these are my rankings from least favourite to most favourite in last place I'm gonna put the Woolies high protein very thin texture uh not something I'll be buying again in 4th place Woolies Greek style nothing particularly wrong with it very good all round taste a Slightly thinner texture than what I'd like, but probably for most people this would be ideal. In third place, I'm gonna put my own homemade yoghurt, probably the one I enjoy the most in terms of texture, but gets outranked in terms of taste by the other two. Then in second place, Woolly's low fat strained. This one, I must admit, surprised me. Very good, thick texture, decent taste, and one that I would actually keep in my rotation. And then my surprising No. 1 pick, Lancewood Greek Delight. I must admit I've never tasted this one before, so hence why it took me by surprise, but the best all round option, very surprising. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Did I get this right or did I get it wrong? | 3:23 | truestrainhighproteinyoghurt | original sound TrueStrain Lab
Five yoghurts. Five different ways of getting protein. But depending on what you value, the winner changes. #Woolworths #GreekYogurt #HighProtein #Nutrition | 7,7Ā k | ā | x | 267 | jeu. 8 oct., 10:31 | 41 | 18 | I bought 5 high protein yogurts so you don't have to. And spoiler alert, there's not one obvious winner. So the five yogurts consist of three yogurts from Woolies from their new range. I've included one competitive product as well as my own homemade Greek yogurt. But before I show you the numbers, pause this video, head to the comments and predict who you think is gonna be the winner. Don't cheat. Now first, the difference between the three Woolies yogurts. You have the high protein version that has whey protein and milk protein added. You have the Greek style option that's just formulated with milk cultures and protein. And then you have the strained option that has had the whey removed typical of a proper Greek yoghurt. So first up, we have protein per 100 g. This is what you get with all of the five yoghurts. So if protein is all you care about, then Woolies high protein wins here with a massive 12.6 grams of protein per 100 grams. But calories changes the picture. This is the calories per 100 grams for each yoghurt. So if calories is all you care about, then Lineswood takes this one quite comfortably with 31 calories per 100 grams. But now we ask a different question, how much protein do you get for those calories? Barnswood gives you 17 grams of protein per 100 calories with Woolies high protein followed in a close second with 16.4 grams. But then we bring Price into it and the rankings change again. Woolworths Greek Style gives you the most protein for your money at its normal price. So what matters more to you? Maximum protein, fewer calories, the most protein for your money or the best value? Because depending on your answer, you could pick a completely different winner. And I haven't even tasted them yet. That's next. Pick your winner in the comments. | 1:33 | woolworthsgreekyogurthighprotein | original sound TrueStrain Lab
25g protein. Lactose-free. So whatās actually going into Woolworths New High Protein Yogurt to get it there? I went straight to the label to find out. #woolworths #highprotein #yogurt #wheyprotein | 18Ā k | ā | x | 526 | mar. 6 oct., 16:47 | 35 | 72 | This yogurt has 25 grams of protein, is just 1. 54 calories and is lactose free. So how the hell are they doing it? So if you've been living under a rock for the last couple of weeks, this is Woolworths new high protein range of yogurt. And it broke my brain a bit first when I saw that a milk yogurt could be lactose free. But then when I looked into it a bit further, I saw that the answer was sitting right there in the ingredients. You've got low fat milk as the base, but then they add milk solids, whey protein and milk protein. And that's the big one. Those concentrated milk proteins are what allowed this yoghurt to get up to 25 grams of protein per 200 grams. But then there's the most interesting part at the end of the ingredient list, lactose. And no, that's not there to give you more protein. Lactose is an enzyme that naturally breaks down the lactose in milk, which is how you can get a milk based yoghurt that's labelled free from lactose. And then I saw something else that made me think woolies really went out of their way because this wasn't the only way that they were getting more protein into your yogurt. They've got a couple of different products all using different approaches. So I bought them all. And now I want to find out which one actually gives you the most value for your money. | 1:05 | woolworthshighproteinyogurt | original sound TrueStrain Lab
Every diet, no matter what your goal, needs this one thing #motivation #nutrition #diettips #healthyeating | 2,3Ā k | ā | x | 126 | dim. 4 oct., 06:52 | 14 | 2 | I think every diet needs that one thing you're not willing to give up. Not because you need a cheat meal, but because if your diet gives you absolutely nothing to look forward to, eventually you're gonna start looking forward to breaking that diet. Now, for some people that's a chocolate every night. For others it's a burger on a Saturday. For me, it was Coke Zero with my meals. But here's the important part, it doesn't have to blow up your calories. If I know that I'm getting something that I genuinely enjoy coming later, I'm much less bothered about saying no to random stuff throughout the week. So don't build a diet around everything that you willing to sacrifice. Build it around something you actually excited to keep. | 0:33 | motivationnutritiondiettips | original sound TrueStrain Lab
How Greek is Greek-style yogurt? Today we finally check out Lancewood Greek Delight Fat Free Plain Yogurt. #greekyogurt #highprotein #nutrition #Lancewood | 7,8Ā k | ā | x | 258 | ven. 2 oct., 17:33 | 44 | 14 | I've been making my own Greek yogurt for so long that I completely overlooked one of the biggest Greek style yogurts in s a. And if I'm being honest, I should have reviewed it a long time ago because look at these numbers, 7.9 grams of protein, just 47 calories and less than a gram of fat. Now there's one thing you do need to know about those numbers. That's based on a 150 gram serving. So that's actually 5.3 grams of protein per 100 grams. But that isn't what caught my attention with this because this isn't just milk and live cultures. They've added three different types of proteins in order to make this. So basically what they've done is they've added concentrated dairy proteins rather than relying on the straining process in order to concentrate the protein. And then they've added starch and stabilizers to help give it that Greek style texture. And if I'm being honest, it's pretty clever. But there's one thing that the label can't tell me. Does it actually taste like Greek yoghurt? | 0:53 | greekyogurthighproteinnutrition | original sound TrueStrain Lab
With summer coming up, I thought we would look at a very interesting productā¦Skinny Scoop Protein Ice Cream. Worth it or not? #HighProtein #icecream #proteinicecream #skinnyscoop | 5,4Ā k | ā | x | 230 | jeu. 1 oct., 17:32 | 18 | 9 | Someone Dmed me and asked me to look at high protein ice cream and I thought to myself, not another high protein product so I looked into it and I found this. Now if you gonna put protein in my ice cream, I have questions. So this ice cream is brought to you by Skinny Scoop and when looking at the ingredients here's what caught me off guard. The first ingredients aren't some weird protein dessert Frankenstein like recipe. It's cream, whole milk, xylitol, vanilla powder and then whey protein isolate and that's what makes this interesting because they're not trying to turn ice cream into a protein shake. They basically started with actual ice cream ingredients and then added whey which brings us to the obvious question, does it actually work? So per 100 grams you get 13 grams of protein so already positive but here's where it gets interesting. You also get 16.8 grams of fat all for 193 calories. Just as a side note, the fat doesn't come out of nowhere. It's mainly coming from the cream and the whole milk. Now is that good or bad? Neither by itself. Fat is the essential nutrient but it also contains more calories per gram. So that's one reason that this isn't a low calorie ice cream. Then the other interesting part is the carbs only 3.5 grams of carbs of which 2.6 grams is sugar. How do they get this low sugar amount? The xylitol and this is Currently on sale at checkers for 89, 99. And now we get to the question that I actually care about. Would I rather spend nearly 90 rand on an ice cream that has protein or spend less on normal ice cream and get my protein from somewhere else? And I don't think the interesting question here is, is this healthy? It's whether your protein is worth paying extra for if it's in your ice cream. Tell me, which one would you choose, protein ice cream or normal ice cream? | 1:32 | highproteinicecreamproteinicecream | original sound TrueStrain Lab
Replying to @D Hope this helps | 2,5Ā k | ā | x | 125 | mer. 30 sept., 10:21 | 6 | 1 | What are some quick and lightweight snacks that you can take if you're going on a hike? First of all, I appreciate the kind words and I'm glad you're enjoying the content. First thing I wouldn't obsess a lot of a protein with this. So because he's gonna be hiking for hours at a time, you need something that is lightweight, it's not gonna take up a lot of space and is calorie and carb dense. So first bit of snacks I would pick is definitely nuts or a trail mix. It has quite a bit of calories and doesn't take up much space. Dried fruit is also a great option. But if you do want a bit of protein, then I would definitely go with biltong oats and energy bars. Uh, any of those will do as they quite good for that. And I would even pack a bit of chocolate. Uh, any chocolate will do but I would rather go with dark chocolate. Those are the snacks that you can just take out of your bag and obviously have it anytime. But something that's gonna be good but has a little bit of prep work is peanut butter on rice cakes. But first thing I would do is find out from the organisers what food are they providing before you go and buy all of these snacks and good luck to him because 10 days of hiking, yoh, I don't think I could do it. | 0:56 | - | original sound TrueStrain Lab
Great bit of marketingšš½. Thanks @Primal Sports Nutrition for giving me a a bit of laugh and showing you can have fun with marketing from time to time. #primalsportsnutrition #marketing #protein | 4Ā k | ā | x | 152 | mar. 29 sept., 13:47 | 14 | 26 | Okay, so I think we've got a bit too far on this one. We can't keep adding protein into everything. I mean, come on, protein, brine, salt. Now, before anyone goes to go check, this product isn't real, this was primal having a bit of fun for Friday. I tend to give companies a lot of crap for their marketing, but I have to point out when something is done well, to the primal team, well done. And thank you for showing us that marketing can be fun. Is this a real alternative to conventional whey protein? Letās look at Nutritech Clear Whey and what it has to offer. #highprotein #wheyprotein #proteinwater #nutritech | 4,6Ā k | ā | x | 145 | lun. 28 sept., 18:22 | 21 | 6 | This looks like a normal clear whey, but there's one thing you need to know before you buy it. This is nutritech clear whey. You get 21 grams of protein, zero sugar and a light fruity drink instead of the usual thick milky protein shake. Now that sounds pretty good. And honestly, if you hate traditional whey shakes, I can see the appeal. But here's where it gets interesting. That 21 grams isn't just whey. It's a blend of whey isolate and collagen. But nutritech doesn't tell us how much of the 21 grams comes from each. This matters because collagen is a protein, but it isn't the same thing as whey when your main goal is supporting muscle growth. And then there's the price. This is 549 rand for 20 servings, which works out to just over 27 rand per serving. For comparison, Nutritech's own premium whey works out to 589 rand for 28 servings. So you're paying quite a premium for that clear, refreshing formula. And that's really what you're buying here, convenience and a completely different drinking experience. If you want a refreshing way to get your protein in and you hate milky shakes, I'd get it. But if you're simply looking to get the most amount of protein for your money, there are cheaper ways to do it. Clear way, yes, clear value, that's a different question. | 1:06 | highproteinwheyproteinproteinwater | original sound TrueStrain Lab
Is it possible to get enough protein for a whole month for just R400? #protein #HighProtein #chickenbreast #wheyprotein | 14Ā k | ā | x | 541 | ven. 25 sept., 17:41 | 32 | 17 | Can you get enough protein for an entire month for just under 400 rand? A follower challenged me to figure this out originally using the Omad diet, but I wanted to make this useful for everyone. So instead, let's rather ask how much protein can 400 rand actually buy you? So with 400 rand, I found a basket of 5 k g chicken breast, 30 eggs, 1 k g of beans slash lentils. In total, that gives us roughly just over 1,600 grams of protein. Now that sounds pretty good, but spread across 30 days, that only gives us about 54 grams of protein per day. So no, 400 rand doesn't buy you an entire month's worth of protein. For most people, especially if you're training, you'd need more than that. Now let's compare that to spending 400 rand on a way that gives you about 23 grams of protein per serving. You get roughly about 760 grams of protein for the entire tub. So for the same 400 rand, our food basket gives us more than twice the amount of protein. So coming back to the original question, the answer isn't that you can eat a high protein diet for 400 rand a month, but the answer is that 400 rand can buy you a significant amount of protein. And as we just saw, Whole Foods can give you considerably more protein than a whey can. So if you had 400 rand to spend on protein, what would you buy? | 1:09 | proteinhighproteinchickenbreast | original sound TrueStrain Lab
ProNutro has officially been discontinued. RIP #pronutro #cereal #porridge #breakfast | 24Ā k | ā | x | 497 | jeu. 24 sept., 07:59 | 65 | 93 | Hello, darkness, my old friend. And there we have it. It's official. After 64 years on South African shelves, Pro Nutro has been discontinued. And if you watch my previous videos, you'd know that this entire thing started with the recipe change earlier this year when the new Pro Nutro hit the shelves. But people noticed that something was a little bit different. Well, as you can see, it was more than a little. Mainly the taste, texture and the mixability. Pepsico says they listen to complaints and they explored ways to try and bring the Ultra Neutro back, but they couldn't recreate the old taste and texture. So after a long review, they just decided to discontinue the line completely. And just like that, a product that's been part of South African household since 1962 is gone. And honestly, I think there's a lesson here because you can change a recipe and keep everything good nutritionally. Food isn't eaten on the nutritional panel. People eat the actual product. And pronutro has given us one hell of an example of what happens when the product that people remember isn't the product that they get. What makes this whey āSuperiorā? Letās look into what makes My Wellness Superior Whey so popular and if it is worth it or not. #highprotein #wheyprotein #proteinpowder #mywellness | 3,6Ā k | ā | x | 144 | mar. 22 sept., 17:30 | 24 | 12 | My wellness calls this superior whey. So what actually makes it superior? There's actually quite a bit to go through here. So you know what we have to do. Let's talk about it. Now this video is a long time coming because this product has been highly requested. So starting with the obvious, this is a mixture of whey protein concentrate and whey isolate. You getting 25 grams of protein for a 33 grams serving. So already a positive that more than 75% of this product is protein. But protein isn't the only thing on the nutritional panel. You looking at about 132 calories per serving with a relatively small amount of carbs and sugar along with some fibre. So nutritionally this is doing what you want your whey protein to do, giving you a concentrated hit of protein without bringing in a whole bunch of calories with it. Then there's the big B, C, a, a claim on the front around 6 grams per serving. Now that does sound impressive, but here's the important bit. Whey naturally contains B, C, a, A's. So I would rather look at this as part of the whole protein makeup then as a complete magical extra. Now we get to some of the more unusual stuff in it. First up we have colostrum. Now the benefit of something like this is it contains antibodies and growth type proteins. It's more commonly marketed for stuff like immune and gut health. So that's a genuinely Interesting edition. The catch is, is that the label doesn't tell us how much colostrum is actually in the serving. And there's maca. I hope that's how you say it. Now, this is more commonly sold as a supplement for energy, libido and general vitality. Again, interesting, but the amount matters and that's not disclosed either. the two things on here that I don't think is highlighted enough, this is G m O free and for the Muslim brothers and sisters, it's halal certified. So when you put everything together, what makes it superior? It's not one magic ingredient. It's the combination of a solid whey protein base, a lean nutritional profile, some less common ingredients added, as well as being GMO free and halal certified. So the real question isn't whether this is a good way. It is question is whether they've added enough to make it superior. If you've used Superior Whey by my wellness, I wanna know what you think. Is it worth the money and what have you noticed from using it? Let me know in the comments. | 2:05 | highproteinwheyproteinproteinpowder | original sound TrueStrain Lab
I tried all 4 eāPap flavours with water only. Hereās what surprised me most #epap #Cereal #nutritionfacts #breakfast | 6,5Ā k | ā | x | 228 | dim. 20 sept., 11:32 | 23 | 18 | So we know what e pap is designed to be, but what is it actually like to eat? The e pap team sent me all four flavours with one request, give us your honest thoughts on all the flavours. Now normally I don't review taste because it's very subjective. But this time they specifically asked for my honest opinion. So I tried all four flavours exactly as recommended, 50 grams of powder mixed in with 150 Mills of warm water. And honestly, they were much better than I expected. Now I expected a bit of bitterness because this product's focus is on nutrition first, but I didn't get that at all. Each flavour actually tasted like what it was supposed to. The original isn't sweet, which makes sense. Vanilla and banana was quite pleasantly flavoured without being overly sweet. The only one that wasito missed for me was the strawberry, slightly sweeter with a more intense taste. So that one might be more of an acquired taste. But the biggest surprise for me was actually the texture. It starts out fairly thin, but then thickens up quite a bit the more you mix it after a few minutes. Mine was almost a peanut butter like consistency. And an even bigger surprise to me was just how full it actually left me feeling. And why that's surprising is usually I would need a little bit more food than that in order to feel full. Now do remember one thing, the exact Nutrition does vary by flavour. So this is where I would tell you to read your label. And honestly, this changed my opinion of it. I'm not even a big muesli porridge person. I normally go for overnight oats. But that 50 gram serving left me feeling surprisingly satisfied. And in all honesty, this is something that I would actually continue to eat. A huge thank you to the E pop team for sending this out for us to try. If you guys have any questions on this product, leave them in the comments. And also let me know whenever you choosing your cereal, which flavour do you choose most often? | 1:35 | epapcerealnutritionfacts | original sound TrueStrain Lab
eāPap is more than just another instant porridge. From whole grains and ingredient percentages to the forms of its added nutrients, thereās quite a bit going on behind the label. But nutrition is only half the story. Would I actually want to eat it? Check Part 2 š #Cereal #breakfast #highprotein #epap | 14Ā k | ā | x | 392 | ven. 18 sept., 18:22 | 10 | 24 | Nutritionally, I think this might be one of the most interesting potages I've looked at, but I think its biggest challenge has nothing to do with nutrition. Let's talk about it. The cereal content's gone a bit mad lately, so I thought why not do more of it? So E PAP sent me out all four of their flavours to give it a try and get my honest thoughts on the product. For clarity, there was no requirement for me to give a positive review. So after speaking with their team and looking at the ingredient list, I realised that there was a story behind why they formulated their porridge the way it was. The company originally developed E PAP as a nutritional intervention for kids facing malnutrition. So the goal wasn't just to make another breakfast cereal. And looking at the ingredients, one thing stood out to me, whole grain. Quick science lesson, whole grain is better as whole grain offers you more fibre, vitamins as well as minerals. EPAP keeps the whole grain and in its original flavour, 70% of the product is whole grain. And this is something that I genuinely like about the product. They actually show you the percentage makeup of the ingredients. This way you can see exactly how much of the main ingredients you getting without having to guess how much of it is in the product. And even the added vitamins and minerals are interesting. They haven't just thrown a bunch of Nutrients into the label. Some of them are supplied in forms that can help the body better absorb them. And then we get onto the numbers. You've got your protein, fibre, calories, and a very extensive vitamin and mineral profile. So numbers wise and nutritionally, this looks very well thought out. But here's the catch. People don't buy nutrition labels. They buy food they actually want to eat. So now I want to know, does all of that nutritional effort translate into something that I would actually want to have as breakfast? Check out the next video where we'll test out the mixability, the texture, as well as the taste. | 1:38 | cerealbreakfasthighprotein | original sound TrueStrain Lab
I thought NPL Platinum Whey and Platinum Whey + were basically the same thing. Theyāre not. #wheyprotein #proteinpowder #NPL #HighProtein | 12Ā k | ā | x | 383 | ven. 11 sept., 17:15 | 33 | 15 | Don't make the same mistake I did. I thought that these two were the same product. This is N P L's Platinum Whey and Platinum whey plus. Almost the same name. Completely different products because the plus isn't just an upgraded version. It's actually a completely different protein formula. Let's talk about it. Now the regular platinum is concentrate, isolate and hydrolyzed whey. The plus version has all of that plus casein, egg, pea and rice protein. But here's the big difference. The plus version, despite having more protein sources, has less protein than the regular version. That doesn't make the plus version worse. It just means you getting a completely different formulation. And this will cause it to have a difference when it comes to mixability as well as texture. With all of this, the plus will give you 25 grams of protein, 7 grams of carbs, almost 3 grams of fat and 1.3 grams of fibre all in a 40 gram serving. So where do I land? If you want something that is a straightforward way and is fast digesting, then I'd go with the regular one. If you want something that's more budget friendly and is slower digestion across the day, that's where the plus makes more sense. So my mistake was thinking that plus meant better way. So that will teach me to follow my own advice. Don't fall for what's on the front. Always verify on the back. | 1:10 | wheyproteinproteinpowdernpl | original sound TrueStrain Lab
Is the new ProNutro actually better? I compared the old vs new recipe per 50g serving. The answer is more complicated than ābetterā or āworseā #ProNutro #ProteinCereal #NutritionFacts #SouthAfrica | 7,7Ā k | ā | x | 200 | jeu. 10 sept., 17:51 | 39 | 16 | So after all of that drama over the new Pro Nutra recipe, is the new one actually better? I compared the old and the new labels and honestly the answer isn't as simple as you might think let's talk about it for reference all figures that I'm gonna quote are for 50 gram serving let's start with the biggest improvement the old Pro Nutra had 10.8 grams of sugar, the new one as six that's roughly a 45% reduction so if you're looking at this purely from a sugar point of view that's a significant improvement and this peak my interest even further protein has actually gone up slightly but only just the old recipe had around 9 grams of protein while the new one has 9.3 grams so despite all that controversy they haven't sacrificed any protein if anything that's slightly higher once again only just but here's where things get less impressive fibre has dropped quite a bit the old recipe had around 8.5 grams of fibre, the new one only 6 grams that's roughly a 29% reduction so yes, sugar came down but so did fibre and there's another change that's easy to miss carbs have also increased from around 23 grams to 29 grams and calories have also increased from 176 to 1 82 so you getting slightly more carbs and more calories on the other hand fat as well as the sodium content have come down but once again only slightly so is the new Pronutro, better nutritionally. I wouldn't simply call it worse or better. 45% reduction in sugar is a genuine improvement. Protein is basically maintained as well as fat and sodium having come down. Fibre dropped by 29%. Carbs have increased and you're getting slightly more calories. So nutritionally, it's more of a trade off than a clear upgrade. So where do I land? The new recipe definitely fixes things from a nutritional point of view, but it also changes others in the process. Now whether that's actually a good trade off, that's ultimately up to you. Let me know what your experiences are with the old recipe as well as the new one. | 1:47 | pronutroproteincerealnutritionfacts | original sound TrueStrain Lab
So what actually happened to ProNutro? The recipe changed, consumers pushed back, PepsiCo responded, and the old formula isnāt coming back. But the nutrition story is a lot more interesting than you might think. Look out for Part 2 #ProNutro #HighProtein #Cereal #FoodInvestigation | 49Ā k | 4.5Ć | x | 1,1Ā k | mer. 9 sept., 17:00 | 80 | 169 | So what actually happened to Pro Nutro? Because this started with a recipe change and then ended with a company having to pull it from the shelves. Let's talk about it. Earlier this year, Pocomo launched what it called New Generation Pro Nutro with a new recipe, new texture and a lower sugar formula. But almost immediately, long time consumers started complaining that this didn't taste or feel like the pronutro that they knew. So then the big question is, why did they change it? So according to Pepsico, this wasn't simply a case of deciding to make a different cereal. They said the old manufacturing infrastructure was starting to age and was unreliable and they moved to newer machinery that was far more energy and water efficient. Problem, the new process couldn't produce the exact same product. And once the backlash exploded, Pepsico couldn't ignore it. They acknowledged the problem and apologized to consumers and temporarily stopped production so that they could work on the formula. But there was one thing they made very clear, the old pro Nutro wasn't coming back. But here's where this gets very interesting. When I compared the old and the new nutritional labels, the story wasn't as simple as they made pronutro worse. There are actually some significant improvements and also one change I wasn't fully expecting and that's what we'll look at in part 2. | 1:06 | pronutrohighproteincereal | original sound TrueStrain Lab |
#TrueStrain #NutritionFacts #Collagen #FoodScience
