TSIA2 Math Practice Q19 #TSI #TSIMATH #COLLEGEPREP #EduTok #TESTPREP | 1,4 k | – | x | 104 | jeu. 17 sept., 01:47 | 0 | 3 | Now we take a look at Question 19 from ourtsi math practice and this is one of those word problems and word problems can be a little tricky at times but we're gonna go one sentence at a time okay so first sentence says a history class is made up of 12 10th graders and nine 11th graders I wanna write that piece of information down that way I can know what's going on I can be able to understand it better so again what was it I already forgot 12 10th graders okay, so 12 10th graders 10th grade I'm sorry my handwriting is not very good especially when I'm writing with this pen but nine 11th graders is also a piece of information that we have there so 9 oh my goodness what's going on with my handwriting? Nine 11th graders okay that's what's given to us what else is given to us? It says the 10th graders average 77 on the midterm exam and the 11th graders average so now it's telling us their averages on their exam okay let's write that down we're gonna put and we're gonna kind of divide this and I'm gonna identify all these things right so I can this is a number this is their grade level and then the other piece of information send me their average so we said that the 10th graders average 77 right and the 11th graders a 91 okay, so what are they trying to What are they asking for? It's saying it says what was the average grade on the math exam for the entire class so we want to figure out okay the entire class we're gonna put both how much is both 12 + 9 what is that? It's gonna be 21 and we're trying to figure out this guy right here the average how do we do that? How do we get the average of the entire class? So we're gonna do there's a rule we're basically going to get first of all the the composite the whole the whole grade for all of the 10th graders right even though the average is 77 what we wanna do is we're gonna get we're gonna multiply this guy right here the 77 by the number okay that'll give us a a a whole number as a class or not as a class but as a grade level right? So we're gonna put 77 * 12 what is that 77 are you we're not sure use a calculator so we're gonna pop up our calculator here 77 oh hold on 77 * 12 that equals 924 cool let me write that number down and now we're gonna do the same thing for the 11th graders we got 91 times a number nine right? What is that? If you don't know don't try to do it in your head you have a calculator for a reason okay, it's 819 plus it's usually for the Most part it's quicker right? Okay that's gonna be your total score across from each one but now you wanna get the total score with everything included with everyone we got nine uh nine 29 + 8 19 okay what is that again? Is it nine 29 or did I mess up there? I'm gonna double check it because it's 9:24 okay 9:24 plus 8:19 that's 1,743 so we're gonna put that in there 1,743 and that's gonna give me uh I still need to get the average I still need to figure out one more thing right so we're gonna put 1,743 and to get the average you gotta divide by the total number okay always remember that guys so the average is the total divided by the other total so in this case it's the grade divided by the number of students okay so what is 1,743 / 21? We're gonna go back to our calculator one more time divide this guy by 21 and that is gonna be 83 it's right there look problem solved. | 4:38 | tsitsimathcollegeprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q18 #TSI #TSIMATH #COLLEGEPREP #EduTok #TESTPREP | 1,4 k | – | x | 73 | mer. 16 sept., 03:24 | 2 | 4 | So if you want to pass your TSI, make sure that you watch this. Make sure that you follow. We're gonna look at question No. 18 from our TSI Math practice test. And this right here is going to be one of those statistics problems. Probability, actually. So if we notice the question, um, we have a dot plot, and it's identifying the number of pets living with each of the 20 families in an apartment building. Okay, so it's asking for what fraction of the families have two or more, uh, or have more than two pets. Sorry. So that's important. More than two pets is a keyword. So, um, what is more than two? Well, if we notice here, we have three, and we also have four. Right? So how many, uh, families have three pets? So it's three of them, right? So I'm gonna write this down. So three pets. It's three families. And what about four pets? How many families have that? Let's go back here and check it out. So four pets is gonna be just one. You see, there's only one point there, so it's one. So we have to make sure that we add those up. Three plus one. What is that? Three plus one. That's gonna be four. Okay, so if we go back to our questions, it's four out of a total of 20. Okay, so we see that 20. It's four out of the 20. Unfortunately, we don't see that Number on there. Okay, don't worry, don't panic. We can always reduce it. If you don't know how to reduce. No worries. Just plug it into the calculator. Put 4 divided by 20. That gives us 0.2. Okay, we don't have that decimal again. Do not worry. We're gonna. We're gonna figure it out. We're gonna put 3 out of 20. Let's see. 3 divided by twenty is 0.0 5.5. Remember we said 0.2. We're looking for that 0.2. Okay, so first one's out of the question. One at 1 divided by 5. Now, what is that? That's a 0.2. Look at that. Okay, one over five is the answer. Pretty simple, pretty straightforward. And we move on to the next one. | 2:22 | tsitsimathcollegeprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q17 #TSI #TSIMATH #COLLEGEPREP #EduTok #statistics | 661 | – | x | 14 | jeu. 3 sept., 04:05 | 0 | 1 | Alright so we're gonna take a look at question 70 now and this is a statistics problem it's pretty basic statistics problem nothing too complicated and in um in your TSI you are gonna have at least four probability slash statistics problems so here we have a bar graph and if we look at the question it says the bar graph shows a number of customers just shopping Monday through Thursday if the numbers of customers on Friday was 1/5 we noticed I highlighted 1/5 why because that's that's a number right and this is a math uh test and then increase that's a very important keyword as well what does that tell us? It means that it's gonna go up right? Increase from what? Increase from the number of customers on Thursday so I don't care about Monday, Tuesday Wednesday I just wanna look at Thursday so we're gonna figure out how many customers because that's what it's talking about right talking about customers um came on Thursday so it says four but be very careful cause look in parentheses is showing us in hundreds so we're in reality how many how many customers did they have on Thursday? Well it's 400 so I'm gonna write that down here before I forget we're gonna put Thursday equals 400 customers okay so on Friday we're gonna figure out how many customers shop based on that piece of information right so we're gonna have to get guys one fifth of 400 Right, we're gonna basically just multiply those two what is a fifth of a 400? Well, let's put 400 and turn this on 400 * 1 / 5 that's 80 so it does that sound right? Well, it's an increase what does increase mean right here? Increase increase means we're gonna we're gonna have to add right so it's 400+ that one fifth 400 + 80 simple math is 480 that is my problem and as you can see I had already selected it so yeah, pretty simple. | 2:17 | tsitsimathcollegeprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q16 #TSI #TSIMATH #GEOMETRY #COLLEGEPREP #EduTok | 504 | – | x | 11 | jeu. 3 sept., 04:03 | 0 | 0 | Alright guys welcome back it's been a while I've been a little busy now that the school year has started but I promised you guys you guys that I would work out some more TSI problems and here it is we're gonna take a look at question No. 16 was which is a geometry problem and here we're gonna go ahead and start reading the question it says in triangle a B C angle C is a right angle before I move on I'm gonna go ahead and draw this it's very important that you draw your figure anytime you have a geometry problem so you can visualize it alright so we're gonna go ahead and do that I'm gonna open up my tap here and we're gonna put uh we're gonna draw a right triangle okay this is what a right triangle looks like and we're gonna go back and and what we do know is that angle C is the right angle right so angle C it's the right angle and what else do we know we know that one of them is a another one is B and honestly it doesn't really matter how you set it up as long as you have a B and C what else do we know it says if cosine a equals 5 over 8 what is the value of cosine B? So I'm gonna write this down cosine that's what cosine stands for cosine so cosine of a equals 5 Over 8 and we wanna know cosine B that's gonna be our question Mark okay, so whenever you have cosine um that is a little bit of trigonometry so trigonometry is part of geometry it's like kind of like a subtopic and this is something that I would suggest you guys remember if you forgot you should have Learned this in geometry class and that's so Ka Toa remember those acronyms guys so Ka Toa okay this so stands for sign the Ka stands for cosine or Cos and the t stands for Tangent okay, so those are the three main trigonometric functions now the one we really care about is cosine right right here that's the one we care about so what does the a stand for and what does the H stand for? So a stands for adjacent and H stands for hypotenuse okay, what in the world does adjacent mean? What in the world does hypotenuse mean? By the way the O stands for opposite in case you are trying to figure that out right so the most important one of those three the opposite adjacent hypotenuse that I would suggest for you to remember is hypotenuse I'm gonna write it for you here hi patanuos and what that means is the longest side which is across from your 90 degree angle so this guy right here that I'm gonna highlight an orange that's your hypotenuse okay and coincidentally guys since the a comes first the number That's that's on top that's your adjacent and the number that's in the bottom the second one is the hypotenuse so this hypotenuse here is an eight right that long side is your 8 that means that your adjacent side is going to be 5. What is adjacent mean? Adjacent means it's a fancy word for so I'm gonna write it here adjacent adjacent we're taking down some notes okay, so hypotenuse again means a cross 90 degrees or it can also be the longest side and adjacent is a fancy word for next to okay, so next to the angle a so I'm gonna go ahead and highlight angle a that's very important also it's cosine of a right? So we wanna be it's gonna be the one that's next to angle a and the one that's next to angle a is right here a side AC so side AC is going to be 5 okay, good. So now guys what we want to figure out is cosine B how do we figure out cosine B? Well, we gotta find what the adjacent is and what the hypotenuse is now you might think well we already have that it's five over eight right? Wrong now they're asking us for cosine of angle B not angle a so now the hypotenuse actually stays the same right? That does not change that's why I told you hypothesis is always the most important so what does change is now that I have Angle B, let me highlight that for you your adjacent is now no longer that side AC now it's side BC right here, the one that I highlighted in green cause that's the side that's next to Angle B so we need to figure out what this guy is okay, what we do know if we go back, let's see if let's see which ones are not so we know actually look, all of them have eight as the bottom as a denominator right as the bottom number so that doesn't help me out we have to figure out whether the adjacent could be 3 could be 5 it could be squared to 39 or squared to 89 so how do we get an unknown side in a right triangle? Well, that here's another very important formula that you should know and that's called the Pythagorean theorem guys Pythagorean theorem I'm gonna write this down for y'all Pythagorean theorem do y'all remember that? I think I butchered it a little bit but the theorem theorem is a square plus B square equals c square that's one of the most basic things that you learn in trigonometry right? A square plus B square equals c square so again, the one that does matter a and B doesn't don't really matter that much c is the one that matters that's gonna be your hypotenuse that you should, that's your long side so we know that we have a square plus B square Equals 8 square and in fact we can use 5 as well that can be actually the this is actually B and this is a and this is C because C's across from from they're across from each other basically so C see that a see that B okay so if we have we know our angles then it technically does matter right so anyways um a square plus 5 square equals 8 square okay so this is an a not a 6 so 5 * 5 is 25 and eight times four eight times eight is 64 so you got a square plus 25 okay our goal is to get a by itself what do we do we we subtract 25 both sides it's an equation so we have a square and that equals what's 64 - 25 okay we'll do a little bit math here it's gonna be 39 okay so 39 there's one last step we gotta do in order for us to cancel out the square we gotta do the inverse the opposite right which is a square root and we do both sides so a is equal to can we get the square root of 39 it's gonna be a decimal if we put it on the calculator so we're just keep it as a radical or square root right and if you go back now we figured it out we got we got this part we just needed the numerator so cosine B Equals squared of 39 over 8. So I'm go back here. There you go. That was a bit of a long problem, right? Because there was several steps. You gotta know your trigonometry, you gotta know your Pythagorean theorem. Okay. Um, I would say those are probably some of the most important things to remember for your TSI test. | 7:49 | tsitsimathgeometry | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q15 #TSI #TSIMATH #TESTPREP #GEOMETRY #COLLEGEPREP | 6,8 k | – | x | 303 | jeu. 30 juil., 00:52 | 8 | 11 | Alright, so we're gonna take a look at question No. 15 again, this is another geometry problem. You get about four out of the 20 problems on your TSI are going to be geometry. So here this is a, um, cylinder, right? So, um, they're, they're giving us a formula for a volume already. So everything that's given to us, I suggest write it down because, um, this is gonna help you kind of, uh, you know, look back and be able to solve the problem much easier. So the formula for a right triangle, I mean, not right triangle, right cylinder is volume equals pi r square times H, right? And they're actually giving us what R is and what H is. So R equals to 2 b, we're gonna write that down, R equals to 2 b and then your H is equal to 5 b plus 3, right? So H equals 5 b plus three. All right? And what do they want us to figure out? They want us to figure out the volume of the cylinder in terms of B. Okay, so we don't know, uh, we're not gonna solve like completely, right? Because we don't know those values. But so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to substitute, right? So this is the R right there. And then we're also gonna substitute the H, which is right here. Okay, so let's go ahead and write this down. We're gonna put a pi instead of R you put 2 b the squares outside of the parentheses that's very important alright guys and then parentheses you're gonna write what H is which is 5 B+ three and now let's go ahead and simplify this I'm gonna zoom in here okay so you notice how the square is right outside it's on the right side of your tubian parentheses so that means that this guy that square is gonna go inside here and here okay so you can rewrite it if you want two square b square okay you bring everything else down 5 b plus 3 and let's just concentrate on this guy right here so what is 2 square two times two can be four right so 4 b square and now 5 b plus 3 and you're also going to put the pi in there all right now when you have two parentheses next to each other that means you're going to multiply them right so we're going to go ahead and do that we're going to distribute this 4 b square this way right so we have 4 b squared 4 * 5 these these are coefficients right you multiply those coefficients 4 * 5 is twenty however when you're multiplying exponent this is an invisible one you don't it's it's gonna be a little different the rules are different right so it's gonna be square times B is B to the power of 3 and how do you get that well B Square times B it's like saying 2 + 1 right? B to the power of 2 + 1 what is 2 + 1? That's three right? That's how we got that 3 and then we move on to the next part 4 b square times 3 so four times 3 is what don't forget that positive in there it's gonna be 12B square okay, we're gonna put all this in parentheses and the don't forget about that oops, I went out here. Don't forget that about that pie in there okay, so that pie comes in here to both of these so it's gonna be 20 pi to the power of 3 + 12 pi be to the power of two and why do they come into both them? Because this plus separates those two uh terms, right? They're they're they're separated so therefore guys your answer is gonna be uh the second choice right? Second choice and the third choice they look similar but notice how the third choice has a square for your pies. That's not the case, right? We didn't multiply pie by by another pie so we didn't square it. Um, so that is our correct answer here. | 4:25 | tsitsimathtestprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q14 #TSI #TSIMATH #TESTPREP #GEOMETRY #COLLEGEPREP | 3,6 k | – | x | 172 | jeu. 30 juil., 00:49 | 5 | 7 | Guys, welcome back. Today we're gonna take a look at question No. 14 in our TSI math practice test and we're looking at some geometry problem here so we have a triangle and they're telling us that the area of the triangle is 21 and they're asking for the value of x so for us to solve this problem first of all we gotta know what the formula for the area of a triangle is and it's very important that you remember what the formula for the area of the triangle is in your TSI test so if you don't know guys the area for a triangle is base times height divided by 2 that's what the B stands for it's your base and the age is your height okay so if we go back to the problem here it's giving us this bottom part that's the base X+ one well the the vertical part the X is going to be our height so let's go ahead and um we're going to replace the B with X+ one we're going to replace the H with just X by itself divide that by two and remember they're actually giving us the area of the triangle do you guys remember where the area is? The area is 21 so we we basically um uh substituted everything in that we know um and now we're going to solve for X now there's different ways you can work out the this problem but I'm Going to show you guys a trick here and the trick is since we're giving uh they're giving us multiple choice we're going to plug in because it's asking what is the value of X we're going to plug in every multiple choice into what we are the forming the equation we just created and we're gonna see which one matches okay so let's go ahead and do that let's start with uh three okay three as X so we're gonna we're gonna put a letter a here X equals 3 okay and then we're gonna put 21 equals okay X no not X we're gonna replace the X with the 3 so 3 + 1 replace with the X with the 3 divide by 2 alright so now let's simplify this just the right side we're just working with the right side okay so 3 + 1 is four and then a 3 divide by 2 what's 4 * 3 that is gonna be 12 12 / 2 equals to 6 okay does the left side match with whatever we simplified the right side to be nope it doesn't match so we're gonna cross out letter a or well they're not giving us letters right well but I'm gonna assume it's letter A it's the first answer choice here the second answer choice is 6 okay so now we're gonna put put letter B again they're not giving us letter oops this is not this is not look like A B, there it is, letter B, so X is now equals to 6, right? So same thing, we're just gonna work with the right side, 6 + 1 instead of a 3, we're putting a 6 now that applies on the X as well. So 6 + 1 is 7 and 7 * 6 gives us 42, okay? And four half of 42, 42 / 2 is going to equal to how much around a space, but that's a 21 there. Does this match with what's on the left side? Yes, it does and you can continue with the other problems. I do suggest if you have time guys, if you're not 100%, work out the other two cause you could have made a mistake somewhere, right? But I'm positive here. I double checked it already, I didn't make a mistake. So 6 is the correct answer choice here, okay? | 3:53 | tsitsimathtestprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
How to pass the TSI Math test on your FIRST try! 🧮 Here is a breakdown of the TSIA2 math topics, high-yield algebra strategies, and quick test-taking tips to hit your college readiness score. Save this for test day & comment "PART 2" for actual TSI practice problem walk-throughs! 📌 #TSIA2Math #TSIMath #TSIPrep #MathTok #StudyTok | 14 k | – | x | 695 | mer. 29 juil., 05:44 | 7 | 62 | If you're taking the T S I. Math test anytime soon and need a passing score, do not scroll. Here are the three high yield strategies that will save your grade. Especially tip No. 2. So tip No. 1 stop studying random math. Over 60% of the T S I. Test is purely algebra and functions, along with quantitative reasoning. That means linear equations, factoring, and interpreting data charts. Skip complex trigonometry or advanced calculus. They aren't on this test. Tip No. 2 is a huge time saver back solving because the entire test is multiple choice. If you get stuck on a tricky algebra equation, don't waste three minutes solving for X. Take the four answer choices, plug them directly into the X, and see which one makes the equation true. Works every single time when you're stuck. And tip No. 3 get familiar with the built in calculator. You aren't allowed to bring your own calculator. Uh, the best the test provides an on screen basic four function calculator. Only on specific questions. So get comfortable using fraction buttons and order of operations on standard scientific web calculators so you don't waste time on testing. Last tip guys. The T S I. Is computer adaptive, meaning questions get harder or easier depending on if you get them right or wrong. So make sure that on the first five questions, those are very important that you try to get those right. TSIA2 Math Practice Q13 #Math #EduTok #testprep #TSI | 2,1 k | – | x | 69 | ven. 10 juil., 05:08 | 0 | 3 | All right, now we take a look at Question 13 from our TSI math practice test and on this one it's asking it's a little bit tricky right? It's saying that the slope of the line y equals MX minus 4 is less than the slope of the line y equals x minus 4 which of the following must be true about m? Huh? It's a lot of words okay, anytime you read all that make sure you break it down okay, so we're gonna break it down we're gonna put y equals MX minus 4 that's what I know right now y equals MX minus 4 let's go ahead and write this down y equals MX minus 4 and the next thing that I do know is um it's that that has to be less than the slope of the line y equals x minus 4 so this is less than y equals x minus 4 the only difference between this first one from the second one is that the first one has m the second one does not have have m what does m represent? M represents your slope okay, and it actually is asking us which of the following must be true about m and if you look at your answer choices it's just giving you like m equals something right? So keyword right here is less and that's why I put this symbol right here guys this symbol in math is a less than symbol okay The way you could think about it is that you have one here and then you have the two points right and one is less than 2 right so one comes first so um anyways so your m on the second one you don't it doesn't have a number and when it doesn't have a number you can assume that this guy is a 1 so here m equals 1 so so what does that tell us? Well that this guy right here has to be less then 1 that simple m has to be less than 1 alright, so our answer is gonna be letter C. | 2:21 | mathedutoktestprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q12 #Math #EduTok #testprep #TSI | 1,6 k | – | x | 51 | jeu. 9 juil., 04:28 | 0 | 1 | Okay so now we take a look at question 12 and here it's a pretty simple problem it's just simple algebra it's giving us an equation here 7 p minus 4 = 8 and it's asking for the value of p right so I'm gonna go ahead and and write this down here all right, let me erase this so 7 p I already forgot what I had so let's see 7 p minus 4 equals eight minus four equals eight and the goal here is for us to figure out p okay so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna separate okay this is the left side and this is the right side right you use that equal to separate both sides and I'm gonna go ahead and get rid of the minus 4 first right how what's the opposite of minus is it's a plus okay so just put a plus put a plus on the right side 8 + 4 is 12 and then this guy comes down the 7 p okay now 7 p is 7 and P are together you can't subtract there what we're gonna do instead is we divide them okay divide the 7 to be able to have that p by itself and do the same on the other side so P is equal to twelve over seven and that's my answer okay let's go back let's see if that's on there yep that's right there 12 over seven that is my Answer. | 1:31 | mathedutoktestprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q11 #Math #EduTok #testprep #TSI | 1,6 k | – | x | 53 | jeu. 9 juil., 04:26 | 0 | 2 | Alright guys we're back here about to continue working on our TSI math practice test and we are looking at question No.11 so for question No. 11 it's a word problem and anytime you're working a word problem always try to look at keywords that represent math which is basically numbers right? So if we look through the question and mentions under ideal conditions population of certain species doubles that's a keyword right there because doubles means that something's going on mathematically right? So I'm gonna actually write this down so I won't so I'll remember that's a keyword right here doubles and what does double mean? It means that it's gonna multiply by two what is multiplying by two though? That's very important to try to figure out right? So it mentions here that um every every nine years that's another important one nine years so let's go ahead and and put that in there nine years nine years and what are years? Years is basically something that represents your time right? So what else do we know? So it mentions if the population starts anytime you see that word starts begin that is a keyword because that's gonna be the number at the beginning what's the number that starts? It starts with it's a population starts with 100 individuals so if you look here at your answer choices you have four of them right? Which of these four do uh do not have hundred at the beginning? And it's gonna be the first two those are automatically out. It's it's between these two. Now you might think well, I think it's this one because you have the only difference is that this one has a 90 as an exponent and then the exponent for the this one right here is t over 9. And you might think well, you need to multiply to double something right? And this one multiplies but be careful what we're gonna do here is we're gonna use our calculator in a fact, look here it's letting us use our graphing calculator. We're gonna do that and I'm gonna show you guys exactly what to do here. Okay, so first thing you're gonna do is we're gonna click on the y equals here. Alright, so we can put in our equations we're gonna put 100 times two and then the 90 is an exponent right? So you're gonna put the arrow right the tree top I like to call it a tree top and put a 9 and you're not gonna put a t never put t or R or whatever letter comes out you always replace that with an X okay, so we put an X there. Now we go down we're gonna put the second one we're gonna put this one right here 100 times two to the power of nine not t x. Okay, once we do that we click second table why do we put second? Cause the table Is in blue right? So you put second table and notice how they both started at 100 zero is is the beginning it's the start right? So they both started at 100 and then it does something like it grows this one grows a lot this they both actually wait I think I did this wrong hold on what did I do? Let's go back I put the same thing oh come on all right, let's rip change this wonder that wasn't making sense um, we're gonna delete that and we're gonna put divide by X no no hold on it's actually the other way around X divided by nine okay, now we can go graph it second table so we started 100 now this one it doesn't increase as much that second one the red one right now you're probably thinking well it's not doubling well it's because it says every nine years so in year nine right here that there's number nine what's 100 * 2 200 it's the red one if you forgot what the red one is just go back here to the to the y equals look the red one is gonna be the last answer x over 9 so that's the answer to number question number eleven. | 4:15 | mathedutoktestprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q10 #Math #EduTok #testprep #TSI | 2,9 k | – | x | 79 | ven. 19 juin, 01:09 | 3 | 4 | Next up we have question No. 20. And here we're giving a function, right? That's a square root function. 4 minus x, square inside that square root. But keyword, guys, not defined as a real number, okay? Not. It's even in. In capital letters there. So what I'm gonna do for this type of problem, okay, is I'm going to plug in my answer choices and see which one's a real. Not a real number, okay? So real number is anything that's, uh, positive. Right? Um, I'll explain a little bit. Right, so let's plug it in. So we're gonna put square root, and then 4 - 6, square. Okay, but we're replacing the X with the answer choices. So in this case, we're gonna put a negative two, okay? Negative two, square. What is negative two times negative two? Remember that a square is just multiplying it by itself. So that's gonna be positive for. Right? So square. I'm gonna write. Rewrite this as. And you know what? Let's put letter A here. Um, 4 + 4. Okay? What is 4 + 4? It's gonna be, uh. Oh, sorry. 4 minus four. 4 minus four. What's 4 minus four? That's gonna be zero. So square to zero. All right, now let's go with answer choice B. And we have zero as my x, the value of X. So 4MINUS0, square. Zero times zero is. Is. Is still zero, right? So 4MINUS0 is four. What's the square root of four? That's gonna be two. Okay? So square root of four is two. Now we look at letter C. We're gonna input four minus, and we're gonna put a two square. So what's two times two? That's. That's four. What's 4 minus four? Zero. So square to zero. And lastly, letter D, uh, is a four, right? So we're gonna plug in a four here. What's four times four? That'll be 16. So 4 - 16 will give us. What is 4 - 16? That'll be a negative number. Number negative 12. So think about it this way, guys. When you have a negative inside a square root, it's not a real number, okay? If you put it on your calculator, it'll. It'll give you an error, right? And. And. And the reason is because those are called imaginary numbers. So this one is different than all these up here, okay? So letter D is or. Or number four is the correct answer. | 2:50 | mathedutoktestprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q9 #Math #EduTok #testprep #TSI | 2,4 k | – | x | 72 | ven. 19 juin, 01:06 | 0 | 4 | Okay, so now we move on to question No. 9 and for this one they're giving us a um they're giving us X to the power of negative five times y over y to the power of 3 and then that's gonna be in parentheses and outside you have a negative one as an exponent so for this type of problem guys it is important that we know our different rules for exponents right? Um when we have a parentheses and we have an exponent outside which is the case then that's called the power rule okay, power rule which basically tells us that you're gonna multiply the exponent by the exponents that are inside the parentheses so let's go ahead and rewrite that so we're gonna multiply I'm gonna put this down here so y'all can see it multiply exponents okay, that's the power rule so um we have X is negative fifth right and then times y and then over y to the third all right, let me zoom in so y'all can see that a little bit better so this guy this negative oops, hold on this negative one comes in here here and it also goes there right? So I'm the way we're gonna write it is like this next to the negative five times negative one then y to the negative one there's an invisible one there but it doesn't matter and y to the third times negative one so negative five times negative one What is that that's gonna be negative 5 and this stays alone and then the bottom one three times negative one is negative three okay so now what we want to do guys we want to identify like terms and on top for the numerator you have y and in the bottom you also have a Y the X is completely by itself there's no like terms to it right so that should stay but what happens when you have an exponent in in in terms of this guy right here this guy right here the uh that's you're dividing it right that's a so for that one the rule is that the exponents will be subtracted okay that's called the quotient property all right so again it's quotient and that tells you that when you see that division and reality for the exponents exponents are subtract subtract exponents all right so we're going to put X to the 5th that stays but the y you subtract and you always put the numerator first and the denominator second so what's negative 1 minus and actually I wrote this wrong it's minus not minus 3 it's minus negative 3 so double negative will be a positive negative one plus three which is the same I always like to put the positive first right so pause it is it you can rewrite it like this y 3 - 1 what's 3 - 1 is 2 so the answer should be X to The fifth y square, okay, x to the fifth y square. And I submit that. | 3:29 | mathedutoktestprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSIA2 Math Practice Q8 #Math #EduTok #testprep #TSI | 2,7 k | – | x | 79 | jeu. 18 juin, 04:54 | 0 | 3 | Guys, we're gonna take a look at question No.. 8 here, uh, for the TSI to math test. And here it's asking us to find the Y intercept on the graph of the equation. And they're giving us the equation. Y equals 6, parentheses, X minus one half, parentheses, X plus 3. So what I want to do here is I'm going to go ahead and visualize it. Um, we don't have a graphing calculator on the TSI. That's not allowed. We have just a very simple calculator, so, um. But we can visualize it to make things easier. So let's go ahead and draw this on. On here. We're gonna first of all, start with a graph here where we have X. Remember, X is horizontal, Y is vertical, going up and down. And when it's talking about Y intercept, it means that it's crossing on the Y axis, right? So you can draw any equation, um, a linear equation, right? I'm just giving y'all some examples here. And what we noticed, guys, for all of these is that you're gonna have it labeled as X, comma, Y, right? So we know our Y is gonna be different for all these, right? But the X is going to be the same, because if you notice X, X is right here. And X is equal to what? Zero, right? So zero whenever X is 0. We can figure out our Y based on the equation given, right? So what I'm Gonna do is I'm gonna put Y equals, uh, 6 parentheses, X minus, uh, 1. So X. Whoops, sorry. Six parentheses. X minus 1 over 2. And then, I believe is X plus 3. So I'm going to replace the X with a 0. Because I know that the Y intercept X is equal to zero. And zero just means that it's nothing, right? We can cancel out the X. So we put six parentheses, negative one over two, and then another parentheses. But this is positive three, right? So what's half negative, half of six? It's gonna be negative three, right? So negative three times three. What is that? That's gonna be negative nine. So my answer here should be negative nine. | 2:20 | mathedutoktestprep | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
ACT Math Item 5 #Math #EduTok #ACT #testprep | 1,4 k | – | x | 44 | jeu. 11 juin, 03:30 | 0 | 1 | Now we're gonna take a look at question No. 5 and and it's basically the same as item 4 right it's the same problem but different question now let's go straight to the question it says based on this information okay so we have to go back to the information which are the following values is closest to the total total means we're gonna add stuff all right total price Mr Smith will pay for what two things curtains number one and ceiling fan so let's write that piece of information down before we forget right um anytime you have big word problems I always suggest write down just just the key information right um so we're gonna get curtains curtains and fans and remember we said total so that means we're adding we're adding these two and we care about the money right that's what we were adding that's what we want to get we want to add the money of the how much curtains are worth how much funds fans where do I put funds okay fans are worth so now let's look at that key information first of all curtains okay so price of curtains for small windows is 39 50 so let's write that down we're gonna put small windows 39 50 and then for your large windows it's twice so that's twice means you're going to multiply the by the small ones right two times 39 50 and you know you know you know what Let's do that already guys two times 39 50 that should give me 79 and I did that in my head really quick but use your calculator if you have to okay and then next one ceiling fans um have a price of 52 it tells us right there right ceiling fans have 52 okay now you can add all that stuff up right but the issue here is we need to know how many curtains there are how many fans there are and curtains is is you know there's a small curtains and large curtains so let's look for that a piece of information um so let's see and we can look at the plan we have uh a nest here we got uh basically small curtains in every room so that's three and we got one large curtain as well right? You see that L right there in your your plan so we're gonna go to so we got three of these and we just got one just one of these so three times 39 50 what is that three times 39 50 let's use our calculator don't be afraid to use it three times 39 50 that's 118 50 right? Hundred and eighteen 50 so now you add these two numbers what do you get when you add these two? 1 18 50 + 79 so 1 18.5 + 79 that gives us 197 with 50 cents 1 97 with 50 cents and as for your fans How many fans do we have? How many do we have? Well where what does it say here? It says each of the seating fans um oh we'll install a ceiling fan in each room of the cabin so each room how many rooms we have? We had a bedroom another bedroom and then a living room right? So that's gonna be a total of three so we gotta multiply three times 52 that will be 156 okay, so we're almost done we still just gotta add these two numbers this this is a pretty lengthy problem, but you guys can get it so we're gonna add one 87 with fifty plus 156 and that gives me three hundred and fifty three dollars and fifty cents 3 53 with 50 it's not on here but we're looking for the closest one which is letter C. | 4:33 | mathedutokact | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
ACT Math Item 4 #Math #EduTok #ACT #testprep | 1,2 k | – | x | 32 | jeu. 11 juin, 03:09 | 0 | 0 | Okay, so now we're gonna take a look at item 4. And this one we are gonna have to closely look at, look at it, make sure that we're understanding everything, cause it's a lot of information. All right? But I'm gonna go straight to the, um. To the question, right? And then I look at my information, all the other key pieces. So the question is asking, what will be the area and square feet of the top surface of the walkway? Top surface. Top surface means you're gonna take a look at whatever's on the left side, cause that's top view, right? You're looking at the top view of the. Of the. Of the cabin. So. And the walkways marked right on there, it's basically that shaded area. So let me copy this on here, guys, for y'all, so you can. You guys. You guys can see it better, right? And I'm gonna. So we have a rectangle here. This is. This is the walkway right here. All this area as a walkway. Walkway, walkway. And remember, area, all it means is you. You gotta multiply stuff, right? And in this case, we're given the length and the width. So we got 30. We got 30 here. All right? This is 30 feet. And then 36 over here. 36 on the top. On the. On the top, you got 24. But notice how this is very important, guys, and make sure you pay attention to those details. It's Not going from all the way to the extreme left to all the way to the extreme right. It's kind of cuts it off right here, right? Cuts it off right there. And on the right side you're going as it's going to be 30. But again, it cuts it off here, right? So make sure you guys pay attention to those. These toes. Now, what is the width of the walkway? What tells us here in the part of the question, right. Mr. Smith plans to build a three foot wide walkway. So we know that all this is three foot wide. Okay? So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna multiply every side. Left, right, up, down. So thirty times three. Okay? That's gonna give me 90. So I already got rid of this part. All this part here. Now I do the. Let's go to the left. Now we can. We're gonna say, okay, 30 times two again. But be very careful, because look, on this one, guys, we don't want. We already have part of it. We already got three feet of it, right? So we actually have to subtract three from 30. That gives us 27, right? It cuts off right here. So 27 times three, what does that give me? Okay, so 27 * 3. And again, use your calculator if you have to. Oh, wait. Oh, I messed up. I'm sorry. Okay, now 27. This is 36. See, I. Sometimes my handwriting even Though I erased it, I still messed it up. So 36 - 3, that's 33. So 33 times three is going to be 99. All right? And that's going to be all this part, all the way to the top. As for the 24 is just gonna be this part right here. Right? So 24 times three, what does that give me? That's gonna give me 72. Okay. As for 30. Okay, we already use this guy here, so we don't need to worry about that. We just subtract three again. Right? We just subtract three. So that's 27. 27 times three. I already did that. 27 times three, that'll be. Wait a minute. Did I do this right? Hold on, hold on, guys. Time out. So this one's actually different. You see, it's a bit. It's a bit of a tricky question. So 30 is from here to here. So I still need this piece, right? That's. I need to add three here. This one's a little different. So 30 + 3 is 33 * 0 3. That will give you 99. Okay. Pretty long problems, right? But now we all. We add all four sides. So we are gonna add this guy here, this guy, this guy and this guy. You know what? Let's just plug it into our calculator. All right? Take advantage of the Desmos calculator, cause it is on there. So 99 plus 99+ a 90 and then plus a. What was the. No. 72 Okay, 72. It's gonna be 360. And look at that. We have it right there. Uh, letter D makes no sense at all. Um, you could possibly get A and C if you messed up one of your sides, um, you know, if you didn't add or subtract where you were supposed to. So. But, yeah, this is question. | 5:14 | mathedutokact | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
ACT Math Practice Item 3 #Math #EduTok #ACT #Mathtips #testprep | 1,1 k | – | x | 33 | mar. 9 juin, 04:36 | 1 | 0 | now we move on to item 3 in your act math portion right so we have a number a right and it's actually given to us literally it says negative 2.5 so now it wants to know the number line when the location is a to the power of two so that negative 2.5 all we have to do is plug it in and square it right so I'm gonna do that on my Desmos calculator when I plug in negative 2.5 negative 2.5 and we square that guy now we get negative 6 point 25 and if you look at your answer choices you don't have anything on there well maybe letter d is kind of on the negative side but guys be very careful with negatives there's this weird thing that when you plug it in any calculator or most calculators um it will give you a negative number however that's why this this negative has to be put in parentheses cause the calculator reads it a little different right it reads as as 2.5 square and then it just adds a negative in there but that's why you got to put parentheses cause remember a negative times a negative we'll give you a positive right so the it should be a six point 25 which will be letter a look at that it's a little bit after the six | 1:19 | mathedutokact | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
ACT Math Practice Item 2 #Math #EduTok #ACT #Mathtips #testprep | 1,5 k | – | x | 42 | mar. 9 juin, 04:35 | 0 | 1 | 2 and this one's actually very simple we have uh we have um two numbers right and it's in scientific notation so what I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna put it on my Desmos graphing calculator um so you're gonna put 4.8 multiply that by 10 to the power of negative 7 and to put power you just have to put that that 8 to the power of B right so you gotta do and then you're going to divide but when when you do that look what happens it divides over the tens to the negative 7 you want it to divide over everything so how do we do that? Well the way we're going to do that here is we're actually going to get rid of this I'm going to put this in parentheses all right then I divide and I'm going to put this the the denominator the number in the bottom and parentheses as well and times 10 to the power of negative 11 okay so we get 30,000 now this isn't scientific notation it's not given to me here but no worries guys all we gotta do is just convert it right we just gotta convert it I'm not sure if there's a can you change the scientific notation here maybe but um but all we gotta do is just put in the numbers right so um it can't be the number the letter a because 10 to the negative four is gonna be A, it's gonna be a smaller number. It's gonna be a fraction, right? Um, it will be letter B, letter C and d don't make sense because 3.2 is gonna be, there's gonna be a 2 next to it, but we're just gonna double check guys. It's always best to double check. Um, so yeah, there it is. It matches. So letter B is the correct answer here for item number two. | 1:51 | mathedutokact | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
ACT Math Practice Item 1 #Math #EduTok #ACT #Mathtips #testprep | 1,4 k | – | x | 33 | mar. 9 juin, 04:33 | 0 | 3 | Alright guys, so check this out we're going to take a look at item 1 from the act, um, the we're looking of course at the math portion so here we have a parallelogram and what it's asking us is to find the measure of angle C, a, d so the very first thing I'm gonna do to solve this is I'm going to go ahead and draw this so I can better visualize it, right? So let me pull out my, um, my work here so we're gonna copy this, we're gonna put the parallelogram so it's not gonna be perfect, but something like this more or less, right? And of course you gotta label it, right? So we're putting all our points here we got C, we got B, we got a, oh, I messed this up. It's actually the other way B, a and then D's over here, right? And then we're going to go ahead and put the angle measure so 40 here, 57, we don't know what this one is and in fact that's what we're trying to figure out, right? Cause if I highlight from C to a to D, that's the one I'm trying to figure out the middle one, right? The middle point which is a and now if you notice guys, this guy right here, this guy right here is a triangle, right? So we can use what's called the triangle sum theorem, right? The triangle sum theorem, something that you Learn in your geometry class and this is actually a very simple all you have to do is add up all three angles and you know that a try that the sum of a triangle is 180 degrees right so we know that 57 degrees plus the measure of angle C a d plus the measure of angle um a d C which would be this guy right here now what is that angle measure because it's not given now even though it's not given we know that that there's a certain rule where opposite angles in a parallelogram are going to be congruent so this guy right here is 40 degrees we're gonna put 40 degrees and that equals to 180 degrees okay now we can combine like terms 57 + 40 is just going to be 97+ the measure of angle c a d that equals one 80 and then all you have to do here guys the last step is you just subtract from both sides and that should give you um it should give you 83 we're just gonna confirm with the calculator right so we do have that a Desmos graphing calculator in our you're taking the act online so we're gonna put one 80 minus we had said 97 right so that's gonna be 83 degrees answer choice letter d alright so now we are going to. | 3:10 | mathedutokact | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSI Math Practice Q7 #TSI #Math #EduTok #TestPrep #Texas | 12 k | – | x | 307 | jeu. 4 juin, 18:38 | 7 | 19 | Now we're going to move on to question No. 7 here, right? So question 7 is kind of tricky because it's asking which is not equivalent okay, it's even, it's even in capital letters for you so there's three of them that are equivalent that do match, but one of them doesn't okay, so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna, I'm gonna try to solve this completely and see if one of these matches it alright, so let's solve it first. Okay, I'm gonna write it here. Let me get rid of this previous problem and we have 3 x minus 12 okay, let's write this down 3 x minus 12 and then we also have the other binomials x plus four and there's different ways that you can do this um, I'm sure you guys have heard of foil Method um, and there's also Box Method personally, um, I like both but um, I, I, I find that the box method is easier for a lot of students okay, if you like foil, go for it if you have practice with that one, do it that way but we're gonna do the box method and the box method is simple guys cause we just draw a box and because there's 1, 2, 3, four, it's gonna be, we're gonna have four boxes in here like this 3 x minus 12 and then we have X and the plus 4 right? So all we're doing is we're multiplying, we're Multiplying give me one second let me see if I can move this guy here so we're doing this right here the 3 x and the X they go together right so that's gonna be a 3 x because there's an invisible one here three times one is three but then when we multiply the X's together you also have to make sure that you know the rule is gonna be it's gonna be an X square right? Next up we are doing a uh we're doing the negative 12 and the 1 x right what do we get when we put those negative 12 * 1 x it's gonna be just negative 12 and then your X okay and then the four times a 3 x so this guy right here 3 x and four what do we get when we put those three times 4 is 12 and don't forget your X and the last terms that you're multiplying negative 12 and 4 what is negative 12 * 4? We're not sure use a calculator it's gonna be negative 48 okay so let me zoom in here so y'all can see so check this out guys we are we are not done yet we have to get our light terms right so we got these are light terms right here usually like you're it's gonna be like diagonal negative 12 and positive so what happens when we combine those huh? Negative 12 and positive 12 they cancel each Other out right? So essentially all you have is a 0 x in the middle the 3 x square goes first right cause that's the biggest term in terms of your your power and then the negative 48 goes at that at the end now really you don't even have to show the 0 x cause 0 just means nothing right? So you just have these two right here and check this out look we have this guy right here 3 score minus 48 but be careful remember not so that's not the answer that's actually that's actually equivalent we want not equivalent so let's see hmm we're gonna take it a step back right? So this one looks pretty simple because there's three and there's an X square so we're all we're gonna do is we're gonna distribute the three right see if it matches this guy so three times x squares what 3 x square okay matches that first term what is three times negative 16? What is three times negative 16? We can use a basic calculator here so three times negative 16 whoa whoa whoa I did something wrong here give me one second what did I do three times I think I think I put minus oh yeah, I'm doing something wrong anyways, the answer should be negative 48 three times negative 16 is negative 48 so this one matches also right? We have those are those are um equivalent we're looking for not equivalent So let's go to this one 3 times x squares what 3 x square three times negative 8 x is gonna be uh negative 24 x and 3 * 16 is positive 48 so this one is not equivalent because we actually have three terms we are only looking for two terms at the end and then the last one's a little more complicated you can try solving it but I know for sure this is the correct answer I'm gonna double check this and it's the correct answer and by the way guys and on you can take a practice test in which it'll show you if you get the right answer or not okay just if you wanna practice and double check alright? | 4:53 | tsimathedutok | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra
TSI Math Practice Q6 #TSI #Math #EduTok #TestPrep #Texas | 2,5 k | – | x | 77 | jeu. 4 juin, 18:35 | 2 | 5 | So now we take a look at question No. 6 here on the TSI math test and here we have we have which of the following is equivalent to the expression above? So when we see that word equivalent, they all we have to do is match it right? Now if we had a graphing calculator it'd be pretty simple but we don't all we have on the TSI is just regular Ti 1:08, right? It's just a very simple calculator so we're actually gonna have to do the algebra behind this, but it's really not too bad look, let's go ahead and solve it together. Um, so we're gonna put 4 x plus 5 in parentheses, right? So we're putting 4 and then x plus 5 in parentheses close that off and plus 4 x plus eight. So what we want to do here is we want to combine like terms as much as possible but whenever we have a parenthesis we want to make sure that um, we bring whatever's on the left side inside that's called distribution, right? We're distributing this in here so four times X will give you 4 x, right? And then 4 * 5 is what? 4 times 5 is 20. If you're not sure, don't guess it. Just make sure you use that calculator it's your friend and then we're gonna combine 4 x and 8. What are your like terms here? So like terms is anything that has an X, right? So these two 4 x's are like terms and then if it doesn't have an X they're also like terms 20 and 8 are like terms so 4 + 4 is what guys it's gonna be 8 don't forget about your X and then 20 + 8 is gonna be 28 okay, let's see if we have anything that matches that so 8 x plus 28 okay, so it looks like we don't have anything that matches that but don't worries okay, we're gonna we we do have these right here so what happens when you distribute 4 and 2 4 * 2 is 8 8 x and 4 * 7 is 28 so look that's what we have here 8 x and 28 it's just four times two whoops and then for also four times seven so letter a would be your correct answer now you can try the or the second option right distribute the 8 8 times X is 8 x perfect but what about when we distribute it to the 4 8 * 4 is that's gonna win and you can double check that 8 * 4 and that'll give you 32 so that doesn't match that other um option right the 28 so the first answer is correct. | 2:43 | tsimathedutok | original sound Mr Gonzalez Algebra |
